Cyberbullying

I never knew this thing called "Cyber bullying" could be an issue.Cyber bullying exactly how the word sounds, is someone being a bully on the internet. This could lead to suicides to the people receiving these threats. The New York Times stated  " In jumping, Rebecca became one of the youngest members of a growing list of children and teenagers apparently driven to suicide, at least in part, after being maligned, threatened and taunted online, mostly through a new collection of texting and photo-sharing cellphone applications." I am surprised how this is still an issue. Seriously, want to know a way to prevent this? Here ya go!

AI and Robotics

Soon, robots will be taking over the daily chores humans usually do. Robots could probably do most of the things as humans can but to an extent. NASA Designs A Robot For Mars states, “If you stand a robot in a room it’s very hard to say ‘find the door,’ because robots aren’t as perceptive as people. Even if you told it what a door was, if it wasn't exactly the same door that you programed it for, it would miss it,” explains Berka. “There is always this weakness of perception. A robot can sense its environment, but knowing a door from a cabinet is hard thing for a robot.” Probably at the start a robot would likely make more errors than a human, since there is so many things to program to the robot that it will be impossible to implement everything. As for whose fault it is. It's impossible to determine it. It could be the programmers fault for making mistakes but also can be the hardware on the robot malfunctions. In the end robots should just be used for basic things like serving food, and cleaning.

Legal and Ethical Issues

Taken straight from their website, Creative Commons "is a nonprofit organization that enables the sharing and use of creativity and knowledge through free legal tools". Basically giving you the right to use others people works without copyright. As for if information should be free? This topic has probably been argued the day humanity was born. This question tips back and over from yes to no. For example movies. If they are free where will profit come from or giving the willingness to make the movie. Then again, why should we pay from something so meaningless. Books are also the problem now. Costing so much (for some stupid reason...seriously why are books so expensive? I mean come on, it's a book!) open source textbooks are getting pretty popular. As The Tullahoma News  stated, "Open source texts – whether on paper or in a digital format – are compiled using copyright-free materials from a wide variety of sources and can be edited and updated immediately." This will surely hurt the authors who are selling books. But oh well. Survival of the fittest. As stated before this question can go both ways and this debate shall never end. It's a matter of perspective, who will hurt who?

Security and Privacy

Security and privacy can be a real issue. Whether it's on the internet or even in real life the issue cannot be fixed. After reading the article Target works on security-heavy credit cards, after breach, after multiple cards were stolen from just using it at target. They are trying to make a new way to prevent the situation again. With this said, it's nearly impossible to stop this hacking. There will always be a way to break the system and the only possible solution to fix this problem is to constantly update. Of course it will be breached. And then here we find a cycle of updates to prevent this incident.

World Wide Web

The World Wide Web as we know today is a taste of the future. As new devices and newer technology comes out, it will start to expand on the World Wide Web. This concludes to the cloud. Which let's you store data on the internet into a server somewhere. This is the start to expanding on the World Wide Web. As Mark Zuckerberg states, "Facebook will take on Google directly for dominance of search". Yes Facebook has some points by competing against Google. But good luck with that. Google probably is a chunk of the World Wide Web. Not to mention the simplicity of Google searches makes it easier. Look what happened to Bing created by Microsoft. Who even uses it? No one will ever replace Google. Who will ever say "Facebook it"?

Networks and Communication

Asynchronous and synchronous communications has many benefits. From sending a question with a click of a button to Video Chatting(Skyping) with an internet connection 24/7. They all have different purposes and some have greater purposes than others. Text messaging can be used as a portable communication device without the use of a WiFi signal but a plan.  The only downside to these technologies is it can affect us. As Brandon Griggs from CNN states, "A new study has found that people who type or read on their phones while walking are less likely to look at their surroundings, keep their balance or walk in a straight line." I thought this was known to people. I mean it makes sense. You look down on your phone all the time you don't know where you're walking. Like you are walking blind folded. any type of technology can have it's problems. Skyping much could hurt the ears if used too much, or even ruin a sleeping schedule like me when I video chat with my friends. It's the limit we put on these Asynchronous and synchronous communications.
